Season 4 Season 6

Season 5 is the fifth season of the FOX TV series Bones. The show was renewed for a fifth season in May of 2009. The first episode premiered on September 17, 2009, with the episode Harbingers in the Fountain and final episode premiered on May 20, 2010, with the episode The Beginning in the End.

Season Overview[]

This spectacular new season brings a wedding, the show’s landmark 100th episode, and decisions Bones and Booth must make that could change their lives forever.

In the season premiere, where Booth is given the OK to return to work and Bones returns from a soul-searching trip to Guatemala. And in the 100th episode ("The Parts in the Sum of the Whole"), which Boreanaz directed, the series goes back in time six years to when Booth first met Bones. And it's clear that the two were attracted to each other then, sharing an admiration of solving a case efficiently and correctly. Whether the team is racing against time to deal with a serial killer, finding clues left by a compulsive hoarder, or simply celebrating another wedding, cases around witchcraft doesn't ring true or the quest to ID body parts found in a shark isn't up to par by Bones standards, the viewer is left anticipating what comes next.

Main Plots[]

  • Booth deals with the aftermath of his brain surgery from the end of last season, including his feelings for Dr Brennan.
  • Angela ends her celibacy kick and has a brief relationship with Wendell Bray before ultimately marrying Hodgins.
  • Cam continues to tackle the new challenges that come with raising her recently adopted 16 year old daughter.
  • Sweets makes a big decision about his relationship with Daisy .
  • Serial killer, Heather Taffet aka the Gravedigger, returns this season to be put on trial for her crimes.
  • The 100th episode is aired in this season.
  • The season finale  sees many of the characters taking separate trips, which would cause them to be out of the country for a year:
    • Brennan and Daisy go on a research trip to the Maluku Islands.
    • Booth rejoins the Army and returns to Afghanistan to train soldiers.
    • Angela and Hodgins go to Paris.
